DeepSea Developments is a tech startup that creates innovative products and experiences using the Internet of Things. We’ve worked with many customers in over 5 countries.
We were born in Colombia, and from here, we’re building products on a global scale. We were recognized as the # 1 in the Open Innovation Ranking 2021. And we have received several awards for our innovative ideas.

- Hardware architecture & development.
- PCB design using Altium Designer or Kicad with IPC standards.
- Some of the micros we have worked are Atmel’s AVR and SAM family, ST’s STM32, Esperessif’s ESP32, Microchip’s PIC.
- Firmware:
- Embedded software (firmware) architecture & development.
- Embedded programming of microcontrollers using C.
- Embedded Linux programming (scripting in bash, C and Python)
- FreRTOS
- Communication protocols: Modbus RTU/TCP, CAN, MQTT
- RF communication technologies: cellular, Wifi, Bluetooth, Z-wave, ZigBee, Lora, SigFox.

Types of work
Remote or in-office work. We have development headquarters in Bogotá and Cali. Also, the team spreads between cities like Medellín, Armenia, Barranquilla, among others.
Types of employment contracts
We could offer you different types of contracts:
- Full-time contract for an indefinite period.

Firmware is hard. You need to debug the software and the hardware. That’s why we are looking for someone who likes these challenges. A person that knows how to make quick prototypes to validate ideas, and can also turn it into a complete solution and ready to be used by more than 10 thousand people.
Responsibilities
- Build architectures that make sense with the hardware used.
- Development tasks breakdown. We like being careful.
- Be practical. At DeepSea we make from Demos to mass production. It’s important to understand when is necessary to go fast and furious, and when to take it easy.
- Think about closing the project: A project can be as easy or as complicated as one wants. It is important to be practical. That is why it is 2 times on this list.
- Passionate about the subject. That development is not only your profession but also your Hobby. Bring us your personal project and we will even help you make it come true!
- Self-management.
Required skills
- 2+ years developing firmware projects.
- Knowledge of hardware protocols (uart, can, i2c, spi).
- Effective communication: We do not need you to be like Gabriel García Márquez, but you do need to know how to ask for help when you have blockages, or communicate with the team members to make the work more efficient.
- Experience programming some of these:
- STM32
- avr
- pic (we don’t like it so much though)
- ESP32
- Knowledge on Git, Gitflow.
