New technologies at CES 2022

New technologies at CES 2022 - DeepSea Developments

During the last days, some big companies have decided to avoid physical presence at CES 2022 due to the Omicron variant and the health risks it may imply for many people. However, it is important to bear in mind that the world can’t afford to stop innovating, and these kinds of events foster creativity, and new connections. Here are some new technologies at CES 2022 we expect to see.

Innovation goes on…

Gary Shapiro, President and CEO at Consumer Technology Association has said, “we believe passionately that innovation and technology will make a better world and solve some of the biggest problems in health, energy, mobility, the environment (clean air and clean water) and more.”

We also believe the same. CES is an important event where innovation is the protagonist. Thousands of people, 100 Fortune companies, SME, and startups gather in the same place to show how technology will make a difference in every person’s life.

New technologies that will be seen at CES 2022

In the last editions, CES has been witness to new technologies such as 3D printers, gaming consoles, and Smart TVs.

This year won’t be the exception. LG announced they will show in a new way (using QR codes and augmented reality) the latest in LG OLED Televisions, including 48-inch and 83-inch OLED TVs; these products are designed for gamers. Also, they will show the world’s first swivel phone with 5G capabilities at CES. It has multi-screen to enhance creativity, productivity and entertainment.

XPG company announced that they will present a prototype of a mouse that has internal storage. According to Unocero, “It can integrate up to 1 TB of solid state memory that runs at 985 MB/s.” This mouse connects via a USB-C port to any laptop or pc. It also features Gaming Launcher, this is a software that may turn gaming libraries into something comfortably portable. This will also have a higher level of gaming integration with the XPG Prime software ecosystem.

As you can see, this mouse prototype will serve as an IoT device to take the gaming experience to a whole new level.

Eco-friendly proposals will be more popular this year in terms of mobility. Citroën will expose its Skate Mobility Concept. An autonomous electric transport robot that moves through cities, combined with Pods to offer fluid, shared and creative urban mobility. Also, this company will have at CES 2022 a new ultra compact Electric Vehicle for only 2 passengers.

On the other hand, Jeep will show its Jeep Wrangler 4xe. The most capable, technically advanced and environmentally friendly Wrangler of all time. The Wrangler 4x Plug-in Hybrid Powertrain is capable of up to 21 miles of electric drive, near-silent and emission-free.

In this CES edition, a new category will be launched, Space Tech. This is possible thanks to the advances of Blue Origin, Virgin Galactic, and SpaceX; the space industry will continue growing in the upcoming years.

The main exhibitor in the Space Tech category will be Sierra Space. This company will bring a cargo plane called Dream Chaser, which is scheduled to start missions to the International Space Station in 2022.

Sierra Space is also developing a space habitat, which along with Blue Origin, will launch and form a commercially developed, owned, and operated space station in low Earth’s orbit.

Digital commerce, gamification, and metaverse. All these elements are also a main topic for CES 2022, where NFTs (non-fungible tokens) and blockchain-based technologies will be expanded in a new program announced by CTA. “The new initiative will include digital asset exhibits, as well as conference programming highlighting the rise of NFTs and the market’s future.”

The need of connecting the digital and physical world is bringing back the desire of companies (and users) to develop new smart glasses, which could be used to access new virtual worlds. At DeepSea Developments, we love to help our clients every day to take their awesome ideas and build new technologies that take them to important markets.

For example, Vuzix will show their main innovation, which was honoured by CES organizers for this edition, Vuzix shield. This device is a smart glass with AR (augmented reality) features and the first HD stereo cameras of the world. It is intended to provide metaverse connection, remote instructions, it can scan QR and barcodes, and broadcast videos. This device activates by voice commands or through touch.

More than 100 health companies will attend CES 2022, and they also bring outstanding innovations.

Opteev company developed the first-ever airborne COVID-19 detector. This is something every company, government, and person needs to instantly detect Covid-19 presence.

Dassault Systèmes developed a special software that can simulate the spread of water droplets. This helps in understanding how Covid-19 and other viruses spread

Breathings is another company that developed a specialized device that measures lung health, and gives personal breathing exercises.

A big opportunity for small tech companies

CES organizers know the importance of taking care of health precautions due to Covid-19 situation, and they understand that some big companies like Amazon, Intel, and Microsoft have cancelled their physical attendance.

However, more than 2.200 companies are still confirmed for the event, and thousands of attendees. CES 2022 will benefit many small companies, innovators and entrepreneurs who have been working hard to create new devices that can benefit our lives.

Probably many of these companies will show prototypes, and that’s great. Since this opens many possibilities to attract potential investors and so, develop the product for future introduction in the market.

Others may show their finished devices or new technologies at CES 2022. It is a big chance to get a product sold to a big audience and to potentially reach any part of the world.

Gary Shapiro mentioned a few days ago the story of Robbi Cabral, Founder and CEO of BenjiLock. An immigrant that talks frequently about how Eureka Park transformed his company from an idea to an enterprise. Also, Gary Shapiro mentioned Aswhin Navin, CEO of Samba TV, who had a small booth in Eureka Park several years ago and now has filed for an IPO.
